The very beginning…

Imagine that you are a teen fresh out of high school; dealing with the recent loss of your mother, helping raise your three younger sisters, & trying to pursue your dream of becoming a successful model…all while working a full time job.

While all of this is occurring, you’re also struggling with the thought of furthering your education & going to college. Although I am sure I could’ve juggled even more things on my shoulders, it was just a lot! To even think about it all was very overwhelming. I also started being on my own not too long after I graduated high school; so yes, BILLS BILLS & more BILLS. LOL. It was obvious that I had to pick between the two in order to be fully focused on whatever I decided on. So I chose modeling. I mean, after all, it’s what I have dreamed of & wanted for so long…

The first thing that came to mind when I began this journey was AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL. I remember seeing that you could submit to possibly get chosen to be on the show. So I did my research & submitted everything in they asked for. Shortly after, I got an email saying that they were interested & that I needed to send in more documents, pictures, etc., to be considered. Being on my own for once in my life I had that “I’m grown, I got this” attitude, but in reality, that was not the case AT ALL! With that being said, I messed up on some of the documents & didn’t get the right information to them within the appropriate time manner. This resulted in them not furthering the process with me…

Of course afterwards I was devastated, discouraged, & more. But at the end of the day, it was a huge learning experience for me! I kept in mind that there would always be more opportunities. Even if you don’t win during an opportunity, it’s a blessing regardless because you were involved
